Sterts Arts Centre One Act Playwriting Competition
Rules

Closing Date for entries: Midday on July 31, 2017. Entry Fee per play: £7

The competition is open to anyone over 18 and entries must be new, original plays not previously published or publicly performed or placed in the top three of any other competition.

The play should be for a maximum of four adult actors and suitable for a low-ceilinged studio space but there is no restriction on theme for the main prize. Running time should be 25-35 minutes.

Entries must be in English, typed, to an A4 format. Entries will not be returned. The author’s name must NOT appear on the manuscript but the title must be included on every page. Pages must be numbered. 
Contact details, list of characters, a synopsis of 100 words or less, and a brief author biography must be included on a separate cover sheet.

Entry forms may be downloaded from previous page or requested by sending a stamped SAE to Sterts Arts Centre, Upton Cross, Liskeard, Cornwall, PL14 5AZ. Entries should be posted, together with the entry form, to the same address and cheques should be made payable to Sterts. 

The prize for the winning play will be £100 and a performance of the play will take place on the evening of 25th November, 2017. Two runners-up will receive £40 each and there will be a staged reading of each play on the same evening. In addition, a prize of £40 will be awarded to a play, in English, on a Cornish theme. 

Sterts Arts Centre reserves the right to stage any or all of the winning plays, without further payment, within one calendar year of the closing date.

Judging is fair and unbiased. The judges’ decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into. Prizewinners will be notified in writing in early October. Sterts Arts Centre is not liable for any expenses incurred by entrants to the competition.
