Miracle Theatre - TartuffeDate: Thursday 16th July 2009
Time: 19:30 (Doors open at 19:00)
Tartuffe – He only wants what’s best from you!
Cornwall’s Miracle Theatre celebrate their 30th anniversary with a new adaptation of Tartuffe, Molière’s sharpest comedy.
This masterclass in hypocrisy, as fresh and provoking as when it was banned in 1664, is perfectly suited to Miracle’s high energy outdoor performance style.
Orgon welcomes the righteous Tartuffe into his home, adopting him as a spiritual and life-style guide. To prove that he is a devoted disciple, Orgon signs over everything he owns.
His family smells a rat and sets out on a crazy and hilarious journey to rescue their inheritance and expose Tartuffe for the hypocritical villain he is.
Miracle Theatre apply their love of satire, farce and physical theatre to this timeless classic, laying bare aspects of human nature uncomfortably familiar to us all.

The Festival Players - The Merchant Of VeniceDate: Wednesday 12th August 2009
Time: 19:30 (Doors open at 19:00)
Following its acclaimed Much Ado About Nothing (2008), The Festival Players Theatre Company brings you the Bard’s great comedy of Riddles, Romance, and Revenge, The Merchant of Venice.
This engaging tale delivers both comedy and passion, and the central theme delivers the most suspense-filled court scene of all the great plays. Once again, an all-male company will perform a Shakespeare classic with startling clarity, energy, and brilliance in a richly costumed production designed to appeal to all ages.
“Two years ago we raised a few eyebrows when people realised there was not an actress in sight! But the feedback proved that people were intrigued by the idea and liked what they saw.
Although it might seem unusual today to field an all-male cast it is in fact totally authentic - we are just following in the footsteps of Shakespeare’s own Elizabethan Globe Theatre when all the roles were taken by men.” - Michael Dyer, Director
“What a gifted bunch. What a brilliant production” Audience comment

3 Daft MonkeysDate: Saturday 15th August 2009
Time: 19:30 (Doors open at 19:00)
Whatever your taste in music, 3 Daft Monkeys offer something special and their unique blend of high octane, funked-up folk is guaranteed to get you dancing!
3 Daft Monkeys have just completed a 15 date, UK wide tour rounding off another fantastic year for the Cornish trio. The band took their unique brand of rousing vocals, frenetic fiddling, 12-string guitar, dancing bass and foot drum to venues right around the country.
A veritable melee of musical styles are all evident within the 3 Daft Monkeys’ music. Far too diverse to be pigeonholed into one genre, and possessing a sound completely impossible to typecast into being a particular “style”, 3DM create a stunning blend of upbeat, danceable music which, despite all its world influences, remains undeniably British. Their most recent album, Social Vertigo, has been acclaimed by critics and fans alike. The band’s last album Hubbadillia sold over 5,000 copies purely through word of mouth, and without any distribution or label deal.
3 Daft Monkeys played to tens of thousands of people across numerous venues and festivals around the world, both as headliners and support for a variety of major acts. They played to tens of thousands of people this summer at festivals including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, Cropredy, Wychwood, Beautiful Days, Stokes Bay & Larmer Tree.
“Varied and stirring acoustic style…….outstanding fiddle work” Guardian (Social Vertigo) ***
“"A brilliant Band...I think this [EP – Go Tell the Bees] is absolutely amazing" Mike Harding, Radio 2 (on air)
"A veritable melting pot of styles make a colourful carnival of sound" fROOTS Magazine
“A stunning mix of red stained boudoir mysticism and European folk flowing through its veins” Subba-Cultcha.com

Dave Gorman - Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop & Stand UpDate: Monday 31st August 2009
Time: 19:30 (Doors open at 19:00)
Sorry ! This event is SOLD OUT !
Dave Gorman ('Genius' - BBC Radio 4 & BBC 2) is going back on the road, five years after he last toured the UK. And when we say “on the road” we really mean it.
A lot of acts will tell you they’re covering the length and breadth of the country… but Dave’s really doing it. This tour will see the intrepid comedian covering the extremes of the British mainland as he travels from this land’s southernmost point to its northernmost tip, taking in the most easterly and westerly points along the way. If nothing else he’ll get to see four lighthouses.
Oh, and did we mention he’s going to do the whole thing on his push bike? The travelling, we mean. Not the gigs. That’d be silly. 1500 miles. 32 days in the saddle. 32 nights on the stage. His Mum’s told him not to do it but he won’t listen.
It’s not a show about the journey. Dave may be widely acclaimed as the pioneer of documentary comedy but with this show he’s going back to his roots as a straight up, one-man-and-a-mic, stand-up whose “material is mercilessly sharp and original” (The Times.)

Daisy Pulls It OffDate: Saturday 5th September 2009
Time: 19:30 (Doors open at 19:00)
Denise Deegan's affectionate look at the 'gels' boarding school - a world of midnight feasts, beastly English teachers, a missing family treasure, priggish snobs, Matron, and some very jolly hockey sticks ...
Daisy Meredith is the first elementary school girl to win a scholarship to the prestigious Grangewood School for Girls.
Watch as our plucky heroine undergoes a number of tribulations (including the threat of expulsion) at the hands of her arch-enemies, the beautiful but snobbish Sybil Burlington, and her chief toady, Monica Smithers.
But can Daisy overcome this horrid adversity? Assisted by the madcap Trixie Martin, watch as Daisy fights to gain acceptance in the snobby confines of Grangewood.
But will she succeed? Will Grangewood finally defeat Vearncombe at all-girls hockey?
And will there be jam for tea?
