One Act Play Writing Competition Winners 2019
WINNER - Megan Fellows "Worse things have happened at SeaWorld"
RUNNER UP - Scott Gibson "The Seated Queen" and Andrew Turner "Audience Antics".
JUDGE - Jenny Alexander ()
Congratulations to all of them and also to the many writers whose works have not been successful this year but have entertained the first readers and given our judges a challenge.
ENTRIES FOR THIS YEAR'S COMPETITION ARE NOW CLOSED
The prize for the winning entry will be £100 and a performance of the play on the evening of the 7th March 2020. The runner-up will receive £40 and there will be a staged reading of the play on the same evening. In addition a prize of £40 will be awarded to a play by a playwright who is under 30 years, (same rules apply). Sterts Arts Centre reserves the right to stage any or all of the winning plays, without further payment, within one calendar year of the closing date. We work with the successful writers to stage their plays as effectively as we can. If major alterations are deemed necessary we will consult the writer who will have the right to withdraw the work from performance if they are not happy with the changes.
Judging is fair and unbiased. The lead judge is Jenny Alexander who describes herself as a “Free Range Writer”. The judges’ decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into. Prize winners will be notified in writing in early December. Sterts Arts Centre is not liable for any expenses incurred by entrants to the competition.
