Opportunities for Youth at Sterts in 2020

Here are some of the fantastic opportunities on offer at Sterts this year:


Our Youth Groups are starting up again next week after the Christmas break. 


Sterts Youth Seniors (School Year 9 to age 25) 

Sterts Youth Seniors will be starting on Tuesday 7th January and will be rehearsing for The Changing Rooms which will take place on 11th and 12th March.

Sterts Youth Juniors (age 7-14)

Sterts Youth Juniors will be starting on Saturday 11th January. The sessions will not be connected to Little Mermaid, instead they will carry on developing acting skills, stage voice and movement and will put together an Open Lesson for the parents later on in the year. 10am-11.30am session is for age 7 to 11 (Key Stage 2/End of Primary School)

11.45am-1.15pm session is for age 11 to 14 (Key Stage 3)


LAMDA Lessons with Oksana 

Oksana Wroath is running private classes in LAMDA Examinations in Acting (graded from Entry to Grade 8) for those students who are interested in developing their communication and acting skills further, and achieving certificates and UCAS points. Singing Lessons with Mark Sidey

Mark is running weekly 1:1 private singing lessons at Sterts. Looking at:

Sterts Summer 2020 Season

The Summer Season has been announced and this year at Sterts we will be doing: 

- The BFG

- Wendy and Peter Pan

- Guys and Dolls

- The Birds

- A Shakespeare Play (TBA)

The Little Mermaid

We have now cast The Little Mermaid and will begin rehearsals on 9th January. Rehearsal schedule and more information to follow next week for those of you who are taking part. The Performance dates of this will be Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th May.


One Act Play Auditions

For the older members of Sterts Youth Seniors, we will be holding a One Act Play winners casting/audition information evening on 8th January and a performance on 8th March. The Winning Play - "Worse Things have happened at Seaworld" directed by Oksana Wroath. Set in Fowey, a dysfunctional family, including a Dad at the start of trans-gendering, attempt to resolve some old issues whilst packing up the family house. There is also drama between their daughter and her childhood friend who have had different success since moving to London.

Characters: Claire – mum – 50’s Susan/Stuart – dad – 50’s Jasmine – their daughter -20’s Naomi – Jasmine’s friend – 20’s


Sterts Ballet

Ex-professional Ballet dancer Nicky Brice, teaches classes at Sterts providing high quality, classical ballet training in a fun and nurturing environment.

Ballet is a beautiful art form which encourages so many transferable skills. Students develop creativity, self-confidence, self-discipline as well as a healthy body awareness. Nicky’s pupils have gone on to achieve many different goals and careers and she is proud of the foundations she has helped to provide.
